Pre-existing medical conditions

All travellers should note that existing medical conditions are NOT automatically covered by travel insurance. There is no cover for any claims arising from, related to or associated with pre-existing medical conditions unless the traveller has applied for a medical assessment and received express approval for cover of the condition from the insurer prior to the policy being booked.

A pre-existing medical condition means:

a) An ongoing medical or dental condition of which you are aware, or related complication you have, or the symptoms of which you are aware;
b) A medical or dental condition that is currently being, or has been investigated, or treated by a health professional (including dentist or chiropractor) at any time in the past, prior to policy purchase;
c) Any condition for which you take prescribed medicine;
d) Any condition for which you have had surgery;
e) Any condition for which you see a medical specialist; or
f) Pregnancy.

This definition applies to you, your Travelling Party, a Relative or any other person.

A list of pre-existing medical conditions that are automatically covered with no additional premium are provided on the first page of the below medical declaration forms, along with a list of pre-existing medical conditions that are automatically excluded and you cannot apply for cover for. If a pre-existing medical condition is not listed as automatically covered or automatically excluded, it is necessary to complete pages 2 and 3 of the medical declaration form for assessment.

Once completed, medical declaration forms should be faxed to our office on 02 8569-0238. An assessment is generally returned within two business days, at which stage we will assist with setting up your travel insurance policy.
